Bad Foods You Should Try To Avoid This Year

There are many foods that are bad for us, some more obvious than others. When you walk around your local supermarket, it’s important that you pick up only the most nutritious and fresh products so that your whole family remains fit and healthy. With that in mind, today we’re going to take a quick look at a few different products you definitely want to avoid. Some bad foods are okay in moderation, but you still don’t want to get in the habit of buying them every week. So, give me your attention for a couple of minutes, and I’ll do my best to help you out.

Don’t get me wrong, I used to eat all these products myself, but after numerous health scares, and a stern talking to from my doctor, I had to spend a lot of time reassessing my diet. Also, it might be worth pointing out that I do feel a lot better for having done that. You too could reap the benefits if you pay attention to my advice and implement it accordingly. So, without any more delays, here are the food you never want to put in your basket.

Processed Meat

While you might like the taste of wafer thin ham, processed chicken or similar meat products, medical experts have proven time and time again that this seriously increases your chances of heart problems and cancer. So, either head over to see the butcher in your local supermarket, or check out some reputable online butchers and order using your computer. The quality of the meat you eat will make a big difference to your meals, and it could even help you to avoid the aforementioned medical conditions, so long as you cook it properly.

Margarine

While it has been marketed as the healthy alternative to butter for decades, margarine is actually incredibly bad for your health. You see; it contains trans fats, and hundreds of different ingredients, which means it’s far more complex and will increase your cholesterol levels even more than the traditional option. Also, the calorie count is almost exactly the same as butter, so whilst you don’t want to use lots of it all the time, real butter is most definitely the better option. At the end of the day, this is a relatively new product in the grand scheme of things, and your ancestors have eaten butter without issue for the last couple of hundred years at the least. So, don’t fall for the scaremongering or worry too much about the dangers of the real dairy product. You might remember that margarine was actually banned for a short time only a few years ago, and manufacturers had to change their processes due to medical concerns.

Frozen Meals

Obviously, there are advantages to frozen meals. Being able to take something straight out of the freezer and put into the microwave for a couple of minutes saves a lot of time, and that’s partly why they’re so popular. However, they’re often packed full of fats and salts that your body really doesn’t want or need. So, it’s much better to make your own. This is simple. Just make sure that the next time you cook a big meal, you then freeze some for when you can’t be bothered to spend time slaving in the kitchen. Making your own microwave meals in fine, in fact, I actively encourage it. This will cut back on costs and ensure you always have something nice and healthy to eat, even when you’re in a serious rush.

Crisps

Your kids probably love nothing more than tucking into a bag of Walkers, but crisps are really bad for the human body, worse even than chocolate when eaten every single day. So, if you really have to let your kids eat this rubbish, at least make your own crisps using potatoes you have lying around at home. While they won’t be healthy, they shouldn’t negatively impact upon the body in the same way shop-bought products would. You can find lots of different guides and recipes online for making your own crisps, so there’s no excuse for not getting straight to it today. A friend of mine actually makes his from bananas! So, don’t be afraid of trying new things, as they are almost certainly healthier than any potato based product out there.

Sausage Rolls

There’s nothing like a good sausage roll, and unfortunately, this is literally true when you’re looking around in your local supermarket. If you really must eat foods with so many carbohydrates and additives, it’s most definitely more sensible to make them yourself, or buy from a butcher. Just take a quick look on the back of a sausage roll pack in the shops next time you’re there, and I guarantee you’ll be shocked to read the meat content. I went to my local Asda earlier on, and the highest percentage I could find was around 34%, which is totally shocking. Just think of all the other rubbish they must be putting with that meat!

Pizza

It makes me laugh when I see people ordering pizzas with lots of salad on and no meat. It’s as if they think these are in some way a healthier option… and they’re really not. Regardless of which toppings you choose, the base itself is incredibly bad for your body, as it’s basically just a whole load of bread. I bet you didn’t realise that weight wise, the average pizza base is heavier than a full loaf? That means every time you eat a medium or large pizza, you’re also eating an entire loaf of bread alongside all the cheese and other stuff you don’t want.

So, now you know about some of the main foods you should always avoid, hopefully you’ll be better placed to make sure your entire family stays away from the doctor for as long as possible. The last thing you want is for your family to experience health problems continuously, and the best way to stop this from happening is to adopt a healthy diet.

Just use your common sense, and you’ll be fine.
