Keeping the cardiovascular system healthy is essential for overall health and endurance. If you want to be able to perform in your day to day life as well as you possibly can, then making sure your cardio system is healthy is the way to do it. Keeping your muscles strong is important too, but here we’ll focus on the cardiovascular system. Let’s take a look at what you can do:

Do Different Kinds of Cardio

Different kinds of cardio helps to keep your system strong and running well. The best thing you can do is a series of sprints. Sprint as fast as you can for 30 seconds, then rest, then go again for about 8-10 rounds. You can also go for longer endurance runs if you enjoy those. Mix it up with at least 3 sessions per week. You could even try swimming!

Don’t Sit Down for Too Long

Sitting down for too long is bad for us full stop, so make sure you take a break from sitting if you work in an office environment. Walk around the office for a few minutes every hour. You could even get up out of your chair and do some star jumps!

Eat Diet That’s Good for Your Heart

Eating the right foods is so important too. A heart healthy diet includes plenty of vegetables, good fats like nuts and avocados, and other natural foods. Try to stay away from foods that contain too much sodium or saturated fat.

Have a Check Up

Every so often you should have a check up to make sure your heart is in tip top condition. You can book in with a doctor or go to a walk in clinic, whichever you prefer.

Keep Your Weight Under Control

Carrying too much weight is bad for a number of reasons, but it can also put immense strain on your heart. Keep your weight under control by exercising and watching what you eat and your cardio system will thank you!

Manage Your Stress

Stress levels should be managed to ensure you don’t put even more pressure on your heart. You could end up with a serious heart condition or even suffer from a heart attack if you don’t get your stress levels under control. Manage your stress by doing things you enjoy, meditating, and learning to breathe. You should think about problems logically when they arise too.

Don’t Smoke

Smoking is terrible for all aspects of the body, especially the heart. Quit smoking immediately or vow to stay away from cigarettes, even socially!

Cut Down Alcohol Consumption

Alcohol consumed in moderation can be OK, but if yours is quite high you’ll want to cut down. Monitor your units and replace alcohol with green tea or another drink to help keep you healthy.

Keeping your cardio system healthy now will allow you to live longer and have a better quality of life. Don’t leave it too late and stop problems from arising later on in life!

See you next time!
